It's the time of year to start planning upcoming home improvement projects! Have you ever considered updating your door hardware? It is such an easy way to add charm and elevate the look of your home.
Before I get into the details of our most recent exterior door makeover project, I feel like I need to give you a little back story. Many of you know, but we purchased our first home back in 2018 and since then we've tackled a number of interior and exterior renovation projects. Our vision was to bring a bit of France to our country life and for our home to possess a true "French Farmhouse Style."
This photo was actually the "after" of our first renovation of our garden shed area.
This shed originally had dark walls, shelving and florescent lighting which made the area feel very small. We painted the interior white, removed some of the shelving, and added a vintage chandelier. The transformation was amazing, but I couldn't help but dream how adding a French door with european hardware would let in so much more natural light and elevate the entire look!
In 2020, we worked with The Home Depot to add French doors and as we considered new entry door hardware, I kept coming back to these considerations as I searched various options online:
- Does it reflect our love for French style?
- Will it complement our exterior design?
- Would a lever or regular knob work best for our lifestyle?
After much research, we decided to look for a circular lever. I felt like a lever would be easier to open for our children and would help us achieve French-inspired design.
Did you know that door levers originated in Europe, as did most door hardware? Levers were all we saw in Provence for both exterior and interior doors.
We are so excited to be partnering with Viaggio Hardware to give our new French doors a bit of French farmhouse charm! I selected their Entry Set: Circolo Rosette with Milano Lever in Satin Black for our garden shed makeover.
Adding the new Viaggio Hardware gave our door the touch of French charm I had hoped to achieve!
The space lets in so much more natural light and fits our style. When friends and family drive by, they often ask if we put up a new barn! It's amazing how small upgrades can transform a space.
Here is a full view from inside the garden shed! I love the new entry set and our garden shed definitely feels more like Provence to us. We recently expanded our hobby farm and this shed has been the perfect space to store all of our garden/farm supplies and tools.
As always, thanks again for following along on our renovation journey! I would love to hear your thoughts below.
