Mini-Barn Makeover

After a few long months of renovating the interior of our new home, we finally made our way outside. I'm so excited to share our mini-barn makeover with you today! When we purchased our property, it came with two small barns. Unfortunately, one was too far gone and we had to tear it down (see my story highlights on Instagram for the demolition). The other mini-barn only needed a few small repairs and we decided to give it a complete makeover to better match the exterior of our Bedford stone home.

Most of our projects happen on a whim around here...this one was no different. We had a rare cool Saturday in July with no rain in the forecast so we decided to go for it. For reference, here is the barn before.

To start our project, I made a quick trip to the local Home Depot and picked up a few gallons of exterior paint.

We ended up using Benjamin Moore's Graystone (main barn) & Wrought Iron (accent)

The best part about this project is that we completed it in just a few hours thanks to our HomeRight Super Finish Max Extra HVLP Paint Sprayer.

Have you ever used a paint sprayer? This was the second big project we used ours on and the time you save is astounding! With as many coats as this barn needed, it would have taken us DAYS had we used a roller or worse a paint brush.

I love the HomeRight sprayer because it can be used in a variety of ways from furniture and cabinets (see our first DIY cabinet project here) to fences and walls, and it covers a wider array of projects with less thinning and hassle. You can also spray oil or water based materials such as: chalk type paint, milk paint, latex paints, enamels, primers, clear sealer, polyurethane, stain and varnish. This past weekend, I even used it indoors to paint our closets (more to come on that DIY soon).

Overall, I'm SO happy with how the results of the makeover. With around $100 in paint/material, we have a brand new barn that is ready to withstand the cold Illinois winter.

We still need to add some additional landscaping, but the difference in this view is amazing!

Special thank you to HomeRight for collaborating and helping us with our mini-barn makeover!

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog and following along on our renovation journey.

Xx,

Amy
