French-Inspired Patio Makeover w/ HomeRight

This is a sponsored blog post, but all opinions are my own.

You guys! I am so excited to share our French-inspired patio makeover with you! We partnered with HomeRight on this project to stain/seal our deck and pergola and their finish-max super sprayer made ALL the difference!

We lucked out that this amazing deck & pergola was here when we bought our house. It just needed a little TLC. We decided to go with a stain that was a bit darker (color: Behr cordovan brown) to have more of a contrast against the Bedford stone.

Here's another before:

We prepped the space a few weeks before by power washing and making sure it was clean.

As soon as we had a pretty day with temps above 60 degrees, we started the makeover process. We utilized Behr semi-transparent waterproofing wood stain. For our makeover, it took nearly 6 gallons. We do have a pretty large deck with the pergola though. A few benefits of this particular stain/sealer was that it had a mildew resistant finish and also resists UV damage.

We knew this would be a big project and we were so glad to partner with HomeRight and utilize the finish-max super sprayer. We have used our sprayer for numerous other projects around our house (i.e. kitchen cabinet makeover) so I knew it would save us a lot of time. I love how versatile the sprayer is and how you can spray oil or water based materials such as: chalk type paint, milk paint, latex paints, enamels, primers, clear sealer, polyurethane, stain and varnish.

Another great benefit of utilizing a sprayer is that it lays down a fine, quality finish with minimal overspray. With an accounting background, I am all about improving efficiencies and minimalizing waste :)

I always want to encourage you to tackle your own projects. If a sprayer seems intimidating, do not let it be! If I can do it, so can you. The application is so easy and as long as you properly clean your sprayer after each use, it will work like a charm. For your reference, I've saved a full tutorial on how to clean your HomeRight sprayer on Instagram under my highlights.

Here you can see the difference the stain/seal makes!

We spread this project out over a few evenings during the week to allow the stain to properly dry, but we are so glad we started when we did! In Southern Illinois, it doesn't take long for the pollen count to jump and we got this finished just before we had a lot of rain.

This will be a space we can enjoy as a family all spring/summer long!

This project was one of the largest outdoor makeovers to-date for us. My husband and I both love all things DIY and I'm so glad we were able to complete this project together. Not to mention the money we saved by doing the work ourselves! Here are a few more images of our styled space.

Our peaceful, country view was so worth our move back home. This space is one we enjoy as a family and I love that it is aesthetically pleasing and functional now too.

As always, thank you for following along on our renovation journey. I hope this inspires you to tackle your own outdoor project this year!

Xx,

Amy
