French Farmhouse Kitchen

I love Provencal style and over the years we've worked to bring a bit of France to our country life. You may remember last December when we made over our closet and transformed it to a new walk-in pantry for $20! Today I wanted to share a few tips on how to "get the look" in your own home. 

By design, our kitchen is very neutral with white cabinets and wood planked ceiling. We also have neutral countertops with marble backsplash. To incorporate French Farmhouse style, we've slowly added wood for texture and I love displaying copper to bring in warmth. 

Our kitchen truly is the heart of the home and where we spend most of our time. I want it to be inviting and beautiful, but practical. In the spring and summer months, I love incorporating plants and herbs in the kitchen. Above I have angel vine, lavender and rosemary. We have stoneware to hold our favorite dish brushes and recently added a drying rack, which we use everyday!  If you are in the market for natural cleaning brushes - check out Zefiro.

It is definitely a balance finding the right amount of warmth without cluttering a space. Less is always more. Keep it simple and mix vintage with new. 

The French adopt the same laissez-faire attitude towards interiors as they do with their style - try to create a balance between beauty and a lived-in look. 

 

Copper is both timeless and practical - I LOVE using it and displaying it in our kitchen. Not only are copper pots and pans attractive in the kitchen, but copper is an excellent conductor of heat and very good for cooking.  

In our pantry, I've mixed our copper collection with vintage ironstone as well as my newer pottery pieces I use everyday. All of our newer copper-ware pieces are from Sertodo Copper. My favorite dinnerware is from Denby USAWe recently took the doors off our pantry and added wood trim detail. I love this new view so much!
