Flooring Install with Lucida Surfaces

We have been transforming our bonus room into a home office/music room for my husband since early spring. If you are new to following us on Instagram, here is the BEFORE of the space. 

While the space was large and provided tons of storage, we mainly used it as a catch-all.  With fluorescent lighting, the room lacked character and never seemed to fit with the rest of our home. Once we decided to transform the space into a multi-purpose room for my husband, we put together a design board. We wanted this space to reflect my husband's style, but still complement the rest of our home.

We started the makeover process by painting the entire room and cabinets, installing copper ceiling tiles, adding new DIY countertops and zellige tile backsplash. For the final phase of our makeover, we were so honored to partner with Lucida Surfaces to add new beautiful white oak floors! 

We loved that their DecoCORE™ option is 100% waterproof and came with pre-attached underlayment for a floor that's warm, comfortable and quiet underfoot. With young kids and pets, we were also looking for something abrasion and stain resistant. The Lucida Surfaces flooring fit the bill and their drop-and-lock integration system made installation quick and hassle-free! The DecoCore™ option was perfect for DIYers like us! 

Lucida Surfaces is an industry-leader! Their DecoCore™ flooring comes as a thicker, smaller plank with "right" and "left" planks to allow for straight, herringbone or parquet designs! 

With our patterned copper ceiling tiles and hanging guitars, we decided to go with the traditional straight design for our space. We loved that the DecoCore™ flooring can be used on wood, tile, concrete, vinyl and stone. Our flooring was concrete so before we began, we insured the floors were level and repaired a few problem areas. 

For DIY installation, we could recommend picking up these supplies/tools:

  • Knee pads
  • Mallet
  • Tapping Block
  • Pull Bar
  • Spacers 

Before starting, you'll want to remove any baseboards and confirm your flooring is level. During installation, we also utilized a miter saw to cut pieces of the flooring to stagger start points. 

Mat, my husband, did a very professional job installing the beautiful flooring. 

It has only been a few weeks, but we have already found the flooring easy to maintain. There is no waxing required - simply clean with a dust mop, vacuum or pH neutral cleaner.  We are in LOVE with the finished results! The white oak option was perfect for our space! 

We loved seeing our initial designs come to life for this space. It has truly been transformed and is now a comfortable space to work and enjoy!
