Vintage Finds from The Big Red Barns

Do you love barn sales and vintage finds? I've always had an appreciation for old things... growing up both my sides of my family loved and collected antiques. My grandparent's homes were filled with timeless pieces and I'm fortunate to have a few of those in my own home today.

After moving 5x in 5 years, I try to be intentional about what I bring into our home. I want our home decor and furniture accents to have meaning and tell a story.

One of my absolute favorite sources for shopping vintage is less than 5 miles down the road at The Big Red Barns. What started as monthly barn sales has transitioned into two barns full of locally-sourced antiques and vintage finds! Randy and Jerri are some of the kindest people one could ever meet and have deep knowledge about everything from upscale brocante to a well worn farm piece.

If you are anywhere near Southern Illinois, I would allow for extra time to stop by The Big Red Barns into your travel plans! They truly offer some of the best vintage finds around and their inventory changes weekly. Randy & Jerri regularly post recent finds on their Facebook and Instagram pages so you'll want to follow along there too. If you see something that catches your eye, I would recommend reaching out. Randy has been known to ship special pieces at times :)

My husband and I started going to their barn sales nearly 5 years ago. At the time we lived in Louisville and we loved coming back to visit our family and getting up early to stop by the barn. One of our first pieces from there was this vintage dresser that my husband found and made over.

Over the years, we've found quite a few treasures from The Big Red Barns. I love how each piece is unique and tells a story. We like to refer to our style as "French Farmhouse" and the mix of American heritage and vintage elegance appeals to us.

In our workshop, I've combined many pieces from The Big Red Barns to reflect our style.

When we recently gave our den a French-inspired makeover, I began searching for a wood bookcase. The Big Red Barns had exactly what we were looking for - we didn't even have to paint!

In our kitchen, we have a large French confit pot from one of their picking stops while traveling through Louisiana.

One of my most recent finds was a lovely vintage vanity. Below you can see it at The Big Red Barn and then styled in our home :)

I hope this encourages you to stop by The Big Red Barn or to give them a follow! You truly never know what you'll find!

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog.

Au revoir,

Amy
